Advice for Freshmen:

You are seen, needed, and loved at Mississippi State! In the times you are thriving, we are here to celebrate you and your accomplishments! But also in the times where you feel disheartened or discouraged (which do happen every once in a while), speak up! Whether that is speaking up to New Maroon Camp staff, fellow students, university staff or professors, church and campus ministry leaders, roommates, etc... we all desire for you to feel known, safe, and loved. No matter who you are, there is a place for you at Mississippi State. People here truly care about you, whether you know them well or have barely spoken a word to that person! The staff and administration at MSU desire to see you succeed, as do we at New Maroon Camp! You are not alone, and you have so much potential that can and WILL be found at Mississippi State! Some of the best years of you life await you, and I can’t wait to see you succeed here!! Hail State!

How has New Maroon Camp impacted you? :

New Maroon Camp has helped me believe in myself and my abilities. When looking at NMC, I saw how accomplished my peers were solely because they loved this university, and they had a desire to give back. Many of my role models have established themselves because of NMC! In the times I needed loyal friends to fall back on or a safe place to be vulnerable, NMC provided that for me. I am unbelievably blessed to serve New Maroon Camp in the capacity of Director for 2021 New Maroon Camp! I am thankful for those who have inspired me to take risks and those who believed in my potential, and am thrilled to do the same for the future generations of Mississippi State.
